 GNC is always looking for
talented singers!
We invite you to attend a rehearsal, listen to the beautiful music, observe how
we practice our craft, and decide if this is a hobby you want to pursue.
If it is, you will be voice tested to determine which voice part best suits your
voice range. You will then be given sheet music and an audio tape of your
voice part to the song with which you would be auditioning.
You may take the music and tape home to practice with during the week.
During
the next four weeks, you will have the opportunity after rehearsal or during a
“break” to practice in a “fun quartet.” Here you will have the experience of
singing your part against the other three parts, so that you are prepared for
your audition on week 4.
The Greater Nassau Chorus and Sweet Adelines International keep a strong focus
on the educational aspect of barbershop harmony. Prior to your audition, you
will also have the opportunity to attend classes provided by GNC’s Musical
Leadership Team that will educate you on the basics of singing barbershop
harmony, and areas that are unique to GNC.
You will find that it is fun, exciting, and exhilarating to be part of a team of
women all working towards the same musical goals!
