The Greater Nassau Chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International (SAI), a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education, competition, and performance. Since 1960, GNC has been bringing four-part a cappella music to Long Island and beyond. Under the direction of Master Director 700 Harriette Walters, GNC is proud to represent Long Island, New York, and New Jersey as an award-winning international competitor, with 13 first place regional finishes and nine top-ten international awards!

The women of Greater Nassau Chorus come from every walk of life and some even travel hours to be a part of this powerhouse musical group. They are executives, teachers, mothers, entrepreneurs and more, but are united by their passion for singing and performing in the a capella style at the highest level. GNC’s signature “wall of sound” permeates their repertoire of popular jazz standards, Broadway show tunes, contemporary rock and pop music, making them a chorus for every generation. The chorus and their quartets have been invited to perform at venues ranging from weddings to Radio City Music Hall and have even been featured on CBS Sunday Morning.

The chorus is based in Baldwin, NY, but starting June 26, the Greater Nassau Chorus’ summer home can be found at Hofstra University’s Lawrence Herbert School of Communications, and they are currently holding open auditions.
